Almaty. December 28. Silkroadnews - China plans to become the world leader in use of high technology by 2020, South China Morning Post reports.
“China has unveiled three-year plans to increase the country’s economic competitiveness by developing “key technologies” in nine industrial sectors, from robotics to railways,” the report said.
At the same time, it is noted, Beijing undertakes considerable efforts to develop industries that, in its opinion, will play a significant role in the country’s economic development in the future.
Among the plans published by the National Development and Reform Commission are the development of magnetic levitation trains capable of speeds of up to 600 km/h by 2020.
Other areas targeted by the government include smart cars, robotics, modern shipbuilding and maritime technology, modern agricultural machinery, modern medical devices and medicines, new materials, smart manufacturing and machine tools.
The goal is reportedly to “make China a powerful manufacturing country” and boost the country’s industrial power through the use of the Internet, big data and artificial intelligence.
To achieve the goal, specific tasks have been set for the development of key technologies, conducting research and attracting funding in each sector.
In particular, the tasks set for the automotive sector include the wider use of computer chips by China’s major automakers, development of high-tech equipment, warning drivers about the threat of an accident, etc.
The government will coordinate the research work in the automotive industry and increase funding to create breakthrough technological developments.
Similar instructions and plans have been set out for the other eight industrial sectors.
