Almaty. January 20. Silkroadnews - China plans to build a free trade area with the Gulf countries, TASS agency reports.
“China plans to build a free trade area (FTA) with the Gulf countries”, the publication said with reference to President Xi Jinping visiting Riyadh.
During the meeting with the Dr.Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States, the head of China expressed his content with renewal and “significant development” of negotiations on building a free trade area between China and countries of the council.
“We hope that the FTA will be built soon”, he said.
Among the important areas of cooperation with the countries of the region, the president of China said about the construction of infrastructure, energy, including nuclear energy, space exploration, communications, and finance and investment. He assured that China intends to become a stable and reliable energy market for the countries of the Persian Gulf on a long term basis.
He also stated the necessity to raise the level of security cooperation and coordinate positions on regional and international issues.
