China plans to increase the area of wetland to 53 million hectares by 2020

Almaty. February 4. Silkroadnews - China plans to preserve and restore the wetlands, says "Xinhua" referring to the deputy head of the State Forestry Administration of China Zhang Yongli in Hangzhou.
As noted Zh.Yongli, in the sphere of wetlands still remain a number of disturbing trends, including a permanent reduction in the area of such land, weakening of their ecological functions and reducing species diversity.
According to the deputy chief of management, should be taken decisive action to save the land available for expansion, especially in their area. He added that can be applied experience with the recovery program of forest-grass cover on arable land.
Head of the Chinese Office of Implementation of the Convention on Wetlands Ma Guanzhen, in turn, called "one of the priorities" the improving legal database and the formation of the population informed approach to the protection of wetlands.
According to the state administration of forestry, in China there are more than 570 nature reserves of wetlands and 900 parks.  23,24 million hectares, or 43.51% of all wetlands are taken under protection.
