Almaty. September 15. Silkroadnews – China plans to stiffen penalties for low-quality goods production, China Daily wrote.
“China will improve legislation to promote product quality and establish a system that subjects producers and sellers of substandard goods to punitive compensation measures,” the report said.
It is noted that the guidance the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council released calls on governments at all levels to make “uttermost efforts” to improve the quality of all products manufactured in China.
According to Huang Guoliang, director of the quality supervision department of the administration, punishment for manufacturers and sellers of low-quality products will be tightened.
“Current law generally imposes administrative penalties on violators of product quality law, which are too lenient. A system under which violators of the law would suffer devastating consequences would act as a deterrent,” the agency quoted Huang saying.
With this he noted, the revision of the Product Quality Law will require the approval of the National People’s Congress, the supreme legislative body, and the clear dates for this have not yet been determined.
Being the leading producer of more than 220 industrial goods China yet has a problem of low quality of many of these goods, and as a result runs into problems of oversupply of some products with growing demand for overseas goods.
