China plans to use the SCO to speed up dovetailing the Silk Road and the EEU

Almaty. May 23. Silkroadnews – After the talks held in Bishkek during weekend the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldaev met with the journalists, Xinhua news agency reports.

“Wang Yi noted this year marks 25 years of independence of the Central Asian countries. Wang Yi emphasized that, firstly, as a sincere friend and strategic partner of the Central Asian countries, China supports them in searching the development path that would meet their realities requirements, benefit their people and serve their long-term interests,” the publication says.

Second, China supports the protection by all the countries of Central Asia of their sovereignty and territorial integrity equitable interests in regional and international affairs, he noted.

China also support an optimum regulation by all Central Asian countries of some unresolved historical issues through the friendly dialogue and in accordance with bilateral and multilateral agreements and joint efforts to protect the peace and stability in the region, Wang Yi said.

“Fourth, China supports the more in-depth involvement of all the Central Asian countries in collaboration within the SCO,” he also added.

According to the minister, China hopes to use the SCO as a platform to speed up dovetailing the Silk Road Economic Belt Initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union.

“The Chinese side hopes to focus on strengthening cooperation in the field of production facilities and improvement of transport networks and communications, and also, having started with simplification of procedures in trade and investment, to build the process of regional economic integration and jointly promote the development and prosperity of the Central Asian region,” Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC assured.
