China ranks first in volume of foreign investments in Kazakhstan

Almaty. February25. Silkroadnews - China ranks first in volume of foreign investment in Kazakhstan, China’s ambassador to Kazakhstan, Zhang Hanhuey said, KazTAG reports.
“The Chinese enterprises are operating here – about 2600 Chinese enterprises. Now, in terms of foreign investment, China ranks first. Our energy companies extract one-fourth of oil and gas in Kazakhstan. These are good investments, they do certainly work here,” - he said at the meeting with journalists on Thursday.
Zhang Hanhuey emphasized the Chinese companies also entered the sectors that other foreign investors do not demonstrate interest in.
“As for other minerals, e.g. copper in the East Kazakhstan region, Pavlodar region, you can ask the Kazakh partners how did the Chinese companies manage to get there? They at first entered into contract with the Turks. The Turkish side did nothing for two years as they did not have a technology required,” - the ambassador said.
As KazTAG reported, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Laos lead in the first 11 months of 2015 on the volume of the direct Chinese investments attracted.
“From January to November 2015 the total amount of direct foreign investment of China in 49 countries of the economic zone and the sea route made $14 billion, i.e. 35.3% growth compared to the same period of the previous year. The major foreign partners in terms of the foreign investments made during this period are Singapore, Kazakhstan, Laos, Indonesia, Russia and Thailand,” - said earlier Head of the sector of European Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under the Ministry of Commerce of China Liu Huaqing.
