China's CNPC officially entered the oil and gas market of Azerbaijan
Almaty. October 8. Silkroadnews - Baku opened an official representative office of China Petroleum Technology and Development Corporation (CPTDC), a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), APA reports.
The head of the Oil Research Center Ilham Shaban said that the opening of official representation of CNPC shows the response of China to Azerbaijan's interest in the East.
"It is necessary to take into account that this year the State Oil Fund invested just over $400 million in assets of the National Bank of China. It also influenced the decision of the Chinese Government to open a representative office, because CNPC is a state company", - said the expert.
The expert Rovshan Ibrahimov, in turn, drew attention to what China might be interested in Azerbaijan.
"This is primarily gas fields. In addition, in recent years, Azerbaijan is looking for opportunities to exploit the deeper layers of the Mesozoic deposits. Also possible the rehabilitation of old fields, increase of production and efficiency. In this sense, China can be our partner. For China there are rather broad opportunities in Azerbaijan", - said Ibrahimov.
