Almaty. September 18. Silkroadnews – China’s Communist Party to improve the overall quality of Party officials, Global Times reported with reference to Xinhua news agency.
“The Communist Party of China (CPC) has been improving the overall quality of Party officials by selecting the most competent and sacking the corrupt,” the report said.
It is explained that in some local governments the officials were chosen or promoted only because they had been in their posts during periods of rapid GDP growth or because they had been working for the government for a long time. However, since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, GDP growth is no longer considered as a major credit for recognition, now such achievements as sustainable development, raising living standards and social harmony are also taken into account.
In June 2014, the agency reminds, the General Office of the Central Committee of the CPC announced that young officials should be given more opportunities to work in remote and impoverished areas where they can get better experience. Those whose achievements would be the most outstanding are to be promoted.
It is reported that the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection has completed all the inspections approved by the 18th Congress of the CPC Central Committee. Over the past five years, inspections have covered local governments, government agencies, state enterprises, financial institutions and universities.
According to the agency, since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, more than 200 cases have been investigated on officials of the vice-ministerial or higher levels.
“A report released by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China in March said graft cases of over 17,000 low-level officials had been handled over the past year, mainly in land grabs, demolitions and fund management related to agriculture, rural area and farmers,” the publication reads.
