China’s electricity consumption has increased by 5% in 2016

Almaty. January 17. Silkroadnews – Summarizing the results of 2016, China’s electricity consumption grew 5 percent to 5.919 trillion kWh, “Xinhua” agency writes.

According to data of the National Energy Administration, in agriculture sector electricity consumption amounted to 107.5 billion kWh (+5.3%), in industry – 4.210 trillion kWh (+2.9%), in services sector – 796.1 billion kWh (+11.2%), on domestic needs – 805.4 billion kWh (+10.8%).

New power stations with total capacity of 120.61 million kilowatts were officially put into operation in 2016. In particular, the power of hydroelectric and thermal power plants put into operation amounted to 11.74 and 48.36 million kW respectively.
