China’s energy consumption in the first half of 2016 grew by 2.7%

Almaty. July 14. Silkroadnews – China’s energy consumption in the first half of 2016 increased by 2.7% on a year-on-year basis to 2.78 trillion kilowatt-hours, TASS reported with reference to the report by the country’s National Development and Reform Commission published on Thursday.

The fastest growth rates have been recorded in the service sector – 9.2%. Electricity consumption in agriculture and households increased by 7.7% each. The lowest rate of growth was observed in the industry sector – 0.5%.

This June China’s electricity consumption increased by 2.6% to 495.5 billion kilowatt-hours.

Energy consumption is one of the key indicators of the second largest world economy’s performance.
