Beijing. June 14. Silkroadnews - China’s first self-developed medium-speed maglev train came off the assembly line in the city of Zhuzhou, Hunan, central China, China Plus reports.
Developed by CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co. Ltd. and Hunan Maglev Technology Research Center, the new train can run at speed of up to 160 km/h with a maximum capacity of 500 passengers. The rails, power supply system and control system necessary for the new train are compatible with other medium speed magnetic trains, which, by the way, have an average speed much lower - just 100 km/h.
The train will go on a pilot run in August this year to Changsha. By the end of the year the whole mid-speed maglev transport system is expected to be completed. By then, it will be the world’s first medium-speed transport system consisting of maglev trains intended for commercial use.
