Beijing. January 18. Silkroadnews - China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on African countries not to miss the opportunity of cooperation between China and Africa, Xinhua reports.
During his visit to Sao Tome and Principe, Wang Yi expressed the hope that all African countries will take advantage of the opportunities for cooperation with China.
Sao Tome and Principe resumed their diplomatic relations with China about a year ago after the cutting their “diplomatic ties” with Taiwan, the report said.
Emphasizing that there is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an integral part of the Chinese territory, Wang hailed the right decision by Sao Tome and Principe to restore diplomatic relations with China.
Since then, exchanges between the two countries have resumed in all the areas and brought tangible benefits to Sao Tome and Principe, China’s Foreign Minister said.
Wang also noted, China is now expanding its all-round cooperation with Africa within the framework of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum and the Belt and Road initiative and supports Africa’s pursuits of independent development.
At the same time, he noted that the “diplomatic ties” some African countries support with Taiwan have prevented them from establishing normal relations with China and joining the China-Africa cooperation.
Wang said he believed that no African country would miss the historic opportunities brought by fast-developing China.
