China’s gasoline export to North Korea grew 60% in June
Almaty. July 24. Silkroadnews – Gasoline exports from China to North Korea increased by 60% in June compared to May, though decreased year-on-year, Reuters reports.
Compared to last year gasoline exports from China to North Korea declined in June, though grew 60% compared to May 2017. The gasoline accounts for the major part of the fuel exports from China to the isolated North Korea, a country that is closely watched in connection with the pressure exerted on Pyongyang and attempts to curb its nuclear and missile programs, the report said on Monday.
With this it is noted that the export of gasoline, often unstable, fell 30% compared to June of last year to 8262 tonnes, but increased 58% since May. The total volume of Chinese exports in June reached $5.5 million, compared to $3.4 million in May, though in April it made $8.6 million.
The increase in gasoline exports in June compared to the previous month occurred despite the state-owned Chinese corporation National Petroleum Corp (CNPC) suspended sales of fuel to North Korea.
It is also noted that the supply of diesel fuel to North Korea grew from 10 tonnes in May to 367 tonnes in June.
Chinese iron ore imports from North Korea fell 9.9% to 224.059 tonnes in June compared to the same period last year, and decreased 4% compared to May.
