Almaty. July 3. Silkroadnews – China’s Internet access control system Great Firewall has become even tougher with the closure of the popular VPN in the country, Bloomberg reports.
“The Great Firewall, the system used by China to control internet access, just got harder with a popular virtual private network forced to cease operating on orders from the government. GreenVPN sent a notice to customers that it would stop service from July 1 after “receiving a notice from regulatory departments”,” the publication reads.
It is also noted that VPNs, services allowing to route traffic through foreign servers beyond the reach of Chinese Internet filters, are very popular in China because of the country’s restrictions on Internet content, including news, video, Facebook, Twitter, New York Times and others.
