Almaty. December 28. Silkroadnews - The volume of China’s healthcare market can reach 4.9 trillion yuan by the end of 2017, “People’s Daily” reports.
“China’s healthcare market is expected to hit 4.9 trillion RMB ($748 billion) in 2017,” the report said.
However, this figure is still far from the goal set by the Healthy China 2030 strategy, according to which the volume of the healthcare market should be about 16 trillion yuan by 2030.
Statistics show, at present the health sector is less than 5% of China’s GDP and faces such problems as limited supply of health services and growing demand.
“China is at an initial stage of healthcare development,” Ran Wei, vice president of the China Health Management Association, said.
According to Wang Zhanshan, secretary of the China Health Management Association, healthcare is not a narrow industry, but an industrial system directly or indirectly related to health, and the sector covers a whole industrial chain from healthcare products to health services.
He suggested, the demand for healthcare management will also grow, and the relevant state bodies should speed up the development and creation of platforms for successful cooperation in the field of health care.
