China’s industrial output volume grew 6.8% in May

Beijing. June 15. Silkroadnews - China’s industrial output in May increased 6.8% year-on-year, slower than the 7% growth in the previous month, though still faster than the 6% increase in March, official data shows, SINA.com reports.
In the first five months, the volume of industrial output grew 6.9%, which corresponds to the level of the first four months, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a statement.
The index of industrial production, officially called value added in industry, is used to assess the performance of large enterprises with an annual turnover of at least 20 million yuan (about $3 million).
The data showed that the fastest growth among all industries in May made 12.2% and was observed in production and supply of electricity, heat energy, gas and water.
The volume of the service sector increased as well, here the production index increased 8.1% last month, compared to 8% in April. Software, information technology and business services are also showing steady growth.
