China's largest coal mining company announced production cuts in 2015 by 10.8%
Almaty. March 4. Silkroadnews - In Shanxi Province (North China), which is one of the leading regions in China for the production of coal, was published a new strategic goal for development of energy in the next five years, said the agency "Xinhua".
"By 2020, annual production of coal in Shanxi Province should not exceed 1 billion tonnes of coal, exports to other parts of the country are planned to be limited to 600 million tons, and consumption of energy in the province itself - 260 million tons of standard coal.
China's largest coal mining corporation "Shenhua" on the eve announced a reduction in coal production in 2015 to 33 million tons or 10.8% compared to 2014. Other major coal industry of the country, too, will limit production.
14 consecutive years, the coal production in China had been increasing, and only last year the trend has changed. According to official data, in 2014 the country produced in total 3.87 billion tons of coal, which was 2.5% less than in 2013.
Moreover, an important role in the reduction of coal mining played a smog in the cities.
To reduce air pollution, at the end of 2014, 6 central departments of China jointly sent the country a document which provides a reduction of coal consumption by 2017 in the cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei and Shandong provinces by 83 million tonnes compared with 2012. In the next two years, the country has to reduce coal consumption by at least 160 million tons.
