China’s senior official may pay a visit to India this year
Beijing. March 7. Silkroadnews - The President and the Prime Minister of China may pay official visit to India this year, leaving the Doklam confrontation in the past, The Economic Times writes.
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to visit China in June for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit — his fourth visit to the neighboring country since 2015 — it is widely expected that a top leader from China could also visit India this year, the report reads.
Xi Jinping visited India in September 2014.
In the coming months, the two sides are working to prepare several official visits at the middle level, including a possible visit to India by China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi. But the government of Modi expects to welcome the official visit of Chinese leaders at the highest level this year.
It is also possible that both sides are interested in resolving differences on a range of issues: from China’s relations with Pakistan and problem of terrorist bases in Pakistan to India’s membership in a group of nuclear suppliers and China’s Belt and Road initiative.
