China’s trade surplus with US increased by almost 44% in April

Beijing. May 11. Silkroadnews - In April China’s trade surplus with the US increased by 43.8% compared to March to $22.19 billion, reversing four consecutive months of decline, Xinhua reports.
China’s exports, denominated in US dollars, recovered more strongly than expected in April, 12.9% over the previous year, indicating that global demand remains relatively stable and helps to buffer the negative impact of trade frictions between China and the United States.
Exports to the US rose to $36.12 billion in April from $30.69 billion a month earlier, while the trade surplus grew to $22.19 billion from $15.43 billion.
From January to April, China’s trade surplus with the US rose to $80.4 billion from $50 billion in the same period last year.
China’s exports of steel and aluminum, which became one of the main trade disputes with the US and other countries, also grew in April.
Exports of electrical goods and automatic data processing increased 15% and 22.4% in April, respectively, compared to 2.4% and 15.2% in March. Exports of electronic integrated circuits also continued to grow by double-digits of 25.7 percent annually last month. China’s total imports also rose beyond expectations by 21.5 percent in April year on year from the expected 16 percent growth, the publication reads.
