China seeks answers from Apple on deliberate slowing iPhones
Beijing. 16 January. Silkroadnews - China seeks answers from Apple on deliberate slowing iPhones, ABS-CBN reported.
“The query from the Shanghai Consumer Council came in response to consumer feedback that old iPhones became sluggish after upgrading the software to iOS 10.2.1,” the report said.
In its letter to Apple, the Council demanded an explanation of the slowdown and information on what Apple plans to do to fix the problem.
In December Apple acknowledged that the software for iPhone can slow down some phones with battery problems and apologized for this problem. It also lowered the price of battery replacement and said it would change its software so that users could see the condition of the batteries of their phones.
The Shanghai Consumer Rights Council, a non-government organization approved by the Chinese authorities, said that in 2017 it received 2,615 complaints on the products and services by Apple, compared with 964 complaints in 2015.
