China significantly reduces use of pesticides in agricultural production

Almaty. August 4. Silkroadnews – China has significantly reduced use of pesticides in agricultural production, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.
According to the latest data by China’s ministry of agriculture, popularization of “green” technologies in the fight against plant pests and diseases has resulted in negative growth in use of pesticides in agricultural production for two consecutive years, the report said on Friday.
“Green” technologies mean use of environmentally friendly measures to control and prevent pests and crops diseases.
In the provinces of Sichuan and Jiangsu, as well as in Beijing, popularization of such “green” technologies allowed to reduce use of pesticides by 30%.
The publication says, at present there are 150 counties, districts and cities in China implementing pilot projects on the use of “green” technologies in cultivation of fruits, vegetables and tea, along with 600 model agricultural bases using “green” technologies, with this, the experience accrued, as reported, is planned to be shared throughout the country.
The Ministry of Agriculture of China encourages the agricultural departments, research institutions, educational institutions and enterprises to coordinate efforts to accelerate the steps to develop new “green” products and technologies to be more effective, more focused and easier to use.
