China started the construction of the largest wind farm

Almaty. December 4. Silkroadnews - China has started construction of the country's largest wind farm, informed the newspaper "Vedomosti".
"The wind farm is located on the island of Nanzhi in Fujian Province. After the completion of construction in 2018 the plant will be capable of producing 1.4 billion kWh of electricity per year, which is equivalent to burning 450,000 tons of coal", - said in a statement.
The island has frequent hurricanes and typhoons, and the number of days of windy weather reaches an average of 320 per year.
China is trying to reduce the consumption of coal because of the pollution, replacing it with renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and water.
