China takes over the SCO presidency from Kazakhstan

Almaty. June 9. Silkroadnews – President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev passed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) chairmanship to the head of China Xi Jinping.
“According to the regulations, at the end of our meeting the SCO chairmanship is passed over to the People’s Republic of China”, N. Nazarbayev said at the extended session of the SCO Council of Heads of States meeting on Friday.
He also reminded, today’s summit in Astana is a milestone in the organization history due to India and Pakistan’s accession.
“I believe this remarkable event will open a new era in the development of the Shanghai Organization, significantly expand its potential, and strengthen international authority. I express great gratitude to the heads of delegations and everyone taking part in today’s meeting”, he added.
