China to become a world leader in innovation
Beijing. February 2. Silkroadnews - China intends to become a world leader in innovation, China Daily reports.
“China has unveiled its goal of making itself into a major global science and innovation center by the middle of the century. The country is also poised to produce a large trove of original scientific breakthroughs and cutting-edge experts, according to a guideline signed by Premier Li Keqiang earlier this month and made public by the State Council,” the report said.
These goals are a part of China’s plan to strengthen the country’s scientific research in such fundamental areas as mathematics and physics.
China confirmed its desire to reinforce the basic areas of research, over the recent years the country has rapidly raised funding for such studies.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, in 2016, the due funding amounted to 82.3 billion yuan ($13.1 billion).
It is reported that China will continue to support research, improve key laboratories, educate young scientists and attract talented middle-aged scientists to help them become pioneers on the world stage.
Reforms will be aimed at improving research programs, as well as managing finances and budgets.
In addition, China will participate in more major international scientific projects involving the countries all around the world.
