China to build few border checkpoints on the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan

Almaty. October 17. Silkroadnews – Beijing plans to finance and build several frontier posts and other facilities in Tajikistan to help in protection of the border with Afghanistan, TajikTA reports.

“With the decree published on September 26, the government of Tajikistan has instructed the State Committee of National Security to sign an agreement with the Chinese side providing for the construction of eleven border crossing checkpoint of various areas and a training center for the border guards”, the statement says with reference to the Russian mass media.

It is noted that on Saturday on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Goa, the leaders of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, stressed their interests in Central Asia.

The countries’ leaders called the threat from the Islamic radicals from neighboring Afghanistan to be a key risk.

“Another source of tension within the Central Asia are the militants that got more active in the neighborhood of the Chinese Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, where Beijing has repeatedly applied force to counter separatists’ riots”, the report says.
