China to build first in country maritime patrol ship over 10,000 tons

Beijing. Jul 11. Silkroadnews - CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited has won bids for the construction of a maritime patrol vessel for the Maritime Safety Administration of Guangdong, Global Times reports.
The ship will be China’s first patrol vessel with more than 10,000 tonnage. The vessels, planned to be launched in about 30 months, will be used for patrolling the surrounding waters and carrying out rescue operations.
It is designed to allow take-off and landing of helicopters, including, one carried out during the night. The ship can accommodate 100 people and rescue 200 others.
The price of the project, proposed by Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, made 676 million yuan ($102 million).
At present, China’s largest patrol vessel is Haixun01, built by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group. The vessel with a gross tonnage of 6,645 tons is being operated by the Maritime Safety Administration of Shanghai.
