China to increase poultry import from Ukraine
Almaty. July 26. Silkroadnews – China intends to increase the import of poultry products from Ukraine, Xinhua news agency reported.
Delegation of the Center for Food Safety of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region/PRC/ arrived in Ukraine to study the possibility of expanding the import of poultry products of the country, the report said on Wednesday.
The main task of the delegation, it is said, is to assess the Ukrainian system of state monitoring of the production of table eggs, poultry and byproducts, in this connection, the Hong Kong veterinarians will get acquainted with the work of the central and territorial bodies of the State Food Consumption Service, as well as with the state control processes at slaughteries, farms, packaging centers and laboratories.
To remind, at the end of last year/beginning of this year, Hong Kong imposed a temporary ban on the import of poultry products from several regions of Ukraine, where outbreaks of avian influenza were recorded. This May embargo was canceled.
As of the end of 2016, Ukraine supplied 240.2 thousand tonnes of poultry meat and byproducts to foreign markets, which is a 48.9% increase compared to a year ago.
