China to invest millions to build a cyber army
Almaty. August 18. Silkroadnews – China intends to invest millions to build a cyber army, British newspaper Express reported.
“CHINA aims to become a “big–power in cyberspace” by building an “internet army” after announcing plans to invest huge amounts in new security schools. The Cyberspace Administration of China and China’s education ministry announced plans to “build four to six world-famous cyber-security schools in ten years [from 2017 to 2027]””, report said.
The select colleges and universities will implement interdisciplinary programs combining engineering knowledge with legal and management studies to train to support the cybersecurity.
“China should confidently uphold our sovereignty in cyberspace”, the article quoted China’s President Xi Jinping saying.
The publication also said about the U.S. repeatedly expressed concerns on China’s cyber industry. In its last year’s report the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission wrote: “The United States faces a large and growing threat to its national security from Chinese intelligence collection operations. Among the most serious threats are China’s efforts at cyber and human infiltration of US national security entities”.
The Great Britain is also concerned on China’s activities.
“Chinese hackers have recently been accused of building a “back door” into software in an attempt to spy on the UK’s top businesses. The code has been spread around the world through a compromised software update for server management software from tech firm NetSarang”, the publication said.
It is noted that for the end users the update of the program looked completely reliable and legitimate, as evidenced, in particular, by the corresponding digital certificate.
