China to invest more than $1.2 billion into food production in Belarus

Almaty. May 15. Silkroadnews – Chinese businessmen plan investing more than $1.2 billion into food production in Belarus, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Zayats said, Xinhua news agency informs.

“The Agriculture Ministry and one of the largest companies in China agreed on intention to invest about $1 billion into our country’s economy. The Chinese are interested in products produced by our state”, minister noted.

According to him, another Chinese corporation announced its desire to invest into construction of milk production complexes in the Vitebsk region. These enterprises’ products are planned to be processed at Belarusian plants and delivered to China. The project’s estimated costs exceeds $200 million.

It is reported that earlier a number of Belarusian enterprises signed contracts with Chinese companies for the supply of dairy products with a total value of over $13 million.
