China to participate in construction of an international village on the Moon

Almaty. April 25. Silkroadnews –  China can participate in creation of an international village on the Moon, the newspaper “People’s Daily” writes.

“China, together with other countries, namely the European Space Agency, explores the possibilities of construction of an international lunar village. Moreover, by 2030 the PRC also plans to detect soil samples from Mars”, the publication says.

As China National Defense Industry Bureau Chief Engineer Tian Yulong noted, the development of outer space is a direction that China should accelerate. He also added, plans for this year include the launch of the Chang’e-5 satellite and lunar soil samples delivery. Moreover, launch of the Chang’e-4 satellite and the landing on the back side of the moon for astrophysical research and study of the mineral reserves are expected in 2018.

China also considers the possibility of gathering soil from the back side of the Moon, exploring the northern and southern lunar poles, building research stations on the northern and southern poles of the Moon, and is getting ready for Mars exploration program to start in 2020.
