China to start implementing 5G communication standard by 2020

Almaty. December 20. Silkroadnews – By 2020 Chinese mobile operator China Mobile plans to begin commercial deployment of 5G communication standard, TASS reports.

In 2013 China Mobile completed the development of appropriate new standard of communications technology, in 2016 the company began testing and development of new 5G products, with plans for 2017-2018 to continue testing the new communication standard before its commercial use scheduled for 2020.

Currently China Mobile and its partners, including Huawei and ZTE Corporation are dealing with development and testing of base stations and various devices of the “fifth generation” communication standard expected to raise the data transfer rate up to 1 gigabyte per second, which is up to 50 times faster than 4G.

China Mobile is the largest mobile operator in China. The most recent data for November 2016 shows there are more than 500 million subscribers using the company’s 4G service, while the total number of subscribers for all types of communication provided by China Mobile makes more than 1 billion users.
