China urged Taiwan not to rely on foreign aid if it comes to using force

Almaty. December 13. Silkroadnews - China urged Taiwan not to rely on foreigners if it comes to the use of force, Reuters reports.
“Taiwan will fail in its efforts to get foreign support for its cause, the Chinese government said on Wednesday after a senior Chinese diplomat threaten Taiwan would be attacked the instant any U.S. warship visits the self-ruled island,” the report said.
China considers Taiwan as a province and has never refused to use force to maintain control of this territory. The United States does not have formal ties with Taiwan, but according to the law must help protect it, being also the major supplier of arms to Taiwan.
Beijing regularly calls Taiwan the most sensitive and important issue in its relations with the United States. In September, the U.S. Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act for the 2018 fiscal year, which allows mutual visits by navy vessels between Taiwan and the United States.
This prompted a high-ranking Chinese diplomat to say last week that China would attack Taiwan the instant any U.S. military ship arrives on the island.
Spokesperson for China’s policy-making Taiwan Affairs Office, An Fengshan, said Taiwan is an internal affair for China and China opposes any form of military contact between Taipei and Washington.
“What I want to stress and point out is that any relying on foreigners to build oneself up or plots to harm national sovereignty and territorial integrity will be opposed by the entire Chinese nation, and cannot succeed,” the agency quoted him saying.
China suspects that Taiwan’s president Tsai Ing-wen, who heads the independent Democratic Progressive Party, wants to declare the island’s formal independence. Tsai says she wants to maintain peace with China, but will defend Taiwan’s security.
