China urges Japan to uphold correct view of history

Beijing. April 23. Silkroadnews - China on Saturday urged Japan to uphold the correct view of history after Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe reportedly gave ritual offerings to the Yasukuni Shrine, Global Times reports.
China's stance on the Yasukuni Shrine issue is consistent and clear, said Lu Kang, spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
China also urges Japan to face up to and reflect on its history through actions, he added.
According to Wikipedia, the Imperial Shrine of Yasukuni, informally known as the Yasukuni Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan. It was founded by Emperor Meiji in June 1869 and commemorates those who died in service of Japan from the Boshin War of 1868–1869 to the First Indochina War of 1946–1954. The shrine's purpose has been expanded over the years to include those who died in the wars involving Japan spanning from the entire Meiji and Taishō periods, and the lesser part of the Shōwa period Due to the fact that among the revered in the sanctuary there are several Japanese military leaders recognized by the international tribunal as war criminals, the sanctuary has often been the focus of international press attention, and visits to it by Japanese political leaders invariably become an occasion for international scandals and official protests, mainly from the side China and South Korea.
