"According to the forecast of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), sales of electric vehicles in China this year will reach 220-250 thousand units. According to this index, China will surpass the US and become the world's largest market for electric vehicles",- says the publication.
Global annual sales of electric vehicles will exceed 600 thousand units, of which 180 thousand will be implemented in the US market, said Deputy Secretary-General of CAAM Xu Yanhua.
Although China has rapid development of electric cars, the quality - not quantity, should be a priority for the sustainable development of the industry, said Xu Yanhua at the sectoral meeting.
In particular, it is necessary to carry out safety testing and control of vehicle and the quality of the battery, she added.
According to the association, in the first 10 months of this year, sales of electric vehicles in the country increased by 290% compared to the same period last year to 171.145 thousand units.
