Almaty. January 28. Silkroadnews - China plans to establish a new nuclear emergency rescue team of 300 people to respond quickly to the nuclear emergency cases, the Xinhua news agency informs.
The decision came after the country published its first white paper on nuclear emergency preparedness published by the Information Office of China’s State Council.
The nuclear emergency rescue team will mainly be responsible for dealing with serious nuclear accidents as well as taking part in international rescue operations, noted the authors of the document.
China has already founded a system of rescue teams to specifically take charge of various types of specialized rescue missions in different regions. Its mechanism consists of two main parts - military and civilian - and is divided into three levels: national, provincial level and the level of nuclear facilities operators.
At present China has established more than 30 specialized rescue missions to carry out rescue missions in the country. In all the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, where the nuclear power plants are located, there are the rapid reaction forces ready to conduct radiation monitoring, provide medical care and technical support to evacuate people and carry out rescue operations, the White Paper says.
