China will invest $425 million into the agricultural processing and logistics center in Northern Kazakhstan
Almaty. February 5. Silkroadnews – The Chinese investors in North Kazakhstan Region plans to invest $425 million into the agricultural processing and transport logistics, KazTAG quoted the Akim (Mayor – Silkroadnews) of the North Kazakhstan region Erik Sultanov saying.
“I think that the first (among the largest investors in the NKR - Silkroadnews) will be the People’s Republic of Korea, Russia, and, in case of successful (cooperation with Australian companies - Silkroadnews), may be Australia,” - said E. Sultanov to the journalists on Thursday.
“Both in terms of investment and the number of projects the Chinese investors rank the first,” – he added later.
According to him, only 3 projects (deep processing of grain, plant oilseed processing, transport and logistics center) with the participation of Chinese investors are estimated to the total amount of $425 million.
“We now have 227 mineral deposits. These are non-ferrous and rare earth metals. The first steps have been taken there - an Australian company “Ilyuko” have been working with us for more than a year, they started with the exploration of non-ferrous metals and, above all, zirconium,” – the akim said.
At the same time, he mentioned, the Chinese investors refused of the construction of kindergartens within the framework of public-private partnership building.
“The first group of the Chinese investors said they are ready to build kindergartens, yet later, when all the calculations have been finalized they refused of this plan, saying they are not satisfied with local terms. In their mind the payment for a child shall be higher,” - said E. Sultanov.
“Last year the volume of investments has amounted to 154.5 billion tenge - 28.3% growth ... It is our intention to keep this growth rate (the growth rate of investment for 2016 - Silkroadnews),” - he concluded.
