Chinese airline intends to buy 49% of shares in Kyrgyz air carrier
Almaty. December 22. Silkroadnews – China Southern Airlines announced its intention to buy a 49% shares in “Air Kyrgyzstan” airline, KyrTAG writes.
“There are 22 airlines operating in Kyrgyzstan, of which nine airlines have air operator certificate, five are dealing with cargo transportation, and the rest operating in passenger transportation. Five operators working in cargo transportation have their certificates expired now, thus, their operation has been suspended. Among them is the state-run “Air Kyrgyzstan” company. China Southern Airlines has already submitted their official letter on willingness to buy a 49% shares in state-owned airline “Air Kyrgyzstan””, Minister of Transport and Roads of Kyrgyzstan Zhamshitbek Kalilov said during the government meeting on Thursday.
According to him, there are 72 airlines that carry out the international flights at present, out of them 64% are the foreign companies.
“As a total Kyrgyz airlines serve more than 3 million people a year”, the minister also noted.
