Chinese company imported 67 pedigreed horses from Kazakhstan
Almaty. December 11. Silkroadnews - 67 pedigreed horses were delivered to China from Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Telegraph Agency (KazTAG) reports with reference to Xinhua.
“Having made it over 700 kilometers from the RK, trucks with 67 pedigreed horses on board arrived in the northwest China’s largest land checkpoint “Alashankou” (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region) imported by one of the Xinjiang international trade companies,” the report said.
“The personnel of the quarantine and inspection service will check the correctness of the information entry, place the animals on a 30-day quarantine within a special area, after which they will be delivered to Urumqi, Ili and other places for different purposes, including breeding pedigreed horses and participation in competitions and performances,” information explains.
As noted, recently Xinjiang “started paying greater attention to horses breeding having introduced the industry into the 13th Five-Year Plan and created a structure for the development of the horse industry and a system for breeding thoroughbred horses.” Last year, the Akhal-teke horses were imported from Russia through the Alashankou checkpoint.
With Belt and Road initiative the Alashankou checkpoint has been “approved by the state as licensed for processing feed, as well as importing vehicles and grain.”
By the end of last year, the total volume of imports and exports passed through the Alashankou check-point amounted to $141.92 billion.
