Chinese company plans to build hydroelectric power chain with capacity of 1.1 thousand MW in Kyrgyzstan

Almaty. April 6. Silkroadnews - The Chinese company State Power Investment Corporation plans to build the four hydropower plants chain near the village of Kazarman in the north of Kyrgyzstan, KyrTAG reports.

“At present we implement a number of projects on construction of new generating capacities allowing to increase significantly the amount of electricity generated in the near future. It is especially important as the electricity consumption grows every year,” said the deputy prime minister of Kyrgyzstan Oleg Pankratov at the meeting with representatives of the company.

The total capacity of Alabuginskaya, Toguz Torouskaya and two Kara-Bulun hydroelectric power stations shall reach 1.1 thousand MW after construction.

“Investors assure they have studied in detail the potential and prospects of the Kyrgyz hydroelectric power sector and are ready to realize the project. They expect the whole package of the necessary documents to be ready soon,” the report says.
