Chinese company plans to launch a refinery in southern Tajikistan this September

Almaty. August 8. Silkroadnews – Large oil refinery will start its operation on the territory of free economic zone (FEZ) “Danghara” in the south of Tajikistan this September, Xinhua news agency reports.

As noted, the refinery is being built by the Chinese company “Heli”. Construction works are currently being completed. The enterprise putting into operation is planned to coincide with celebration of the 25th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence in September of this year.

The designed capacity of “Danghara” FEZ refinery is planned to make 1.2 million tonnes per year. At the first stage the company shall process 500 thousand tonnes of oil per year.

The agreement on the construction and putting into operation of the oil processing enterprise was signed between the Tajik government and Chinese company in April 2014. The total investment for the first stage of the project exceeds $80 million, the second stage of the project is expected to require another $300-500 million.
