Chinese company to modernize Sarband HPP in Tajikistan

Almaty. November 22. Silkroadnews – Chinese company “Sinohydro” began works on modernization of the Sarband HPP in Tajikistan, the newspaper “People’s Daily” writes.

The Chinese company has officially launched the modernization project on the Sarband HPP, which capacity totals 240 MW.

Cost of the HPP modernization project amounts to $136 million. The project consists of two phases and is scheduled to be completed in three years.

The Sarband HPP was put into temporary operation in 1962.
