Chinese Embassy calls for restraint in new conflict in Myanmar

Beijing. May 14. Silkroadnews - The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar urged the parties concerned to exercise restraint, immediately cease fire and take concrete and effective measures to prevent the deterioration of the situation following the beginning of a fresh conflict between the armed forces, police and armed groups in Muse, northern Myanmar, on Saturday, Xinhua reported.
The statement by the Chinese embassy says, some residents of the border area of Myanmar fled to China, with bullets landing in the Chinese territory.
Condemning the violent incident and regretting the wounding and death of innocent people, China has urged the parties concerned to ensure the safety of life and property of residents of the two countries in the border area.
In its statement, the embassy expressed its strong protest against any attempts to undermine peace and stability on the China-Myanmar border and impede the peace process in Myanmar.
The statement called on all relevant parties to facilitate dialogue, promote mutual trust and move forward in the same direction for the sake of national reconciliation and the peace process in Myanmar.
At least 19 people, including police, four militiamen and 14 civilians, were killed and another 27 were injured as a result of attacks by armed groups in Muse, Shan, Myanmar, Saturday morning. Attacks on three districts were committed by the combined forces of the Independence Army of Kachin (KIA) and the National Liberation Army of Ta’ang (TNLA).
