Almaty. November 29. Silkroadnews - Chinese general suspected of corruption committed suicide, South China Morning Post reported.
“General Zhang Yang, a former head of the powerful Central Military Commission’s (CMC) political work department, committed suicide last week, Chinese state media reported on Tuesday,” the report said.
A source close to the former military command of Guangzhou said the 66-year-old Zhang has hanged himself in his house in Beijing on the morning of November 23, and the news of his death was transferred to all commanders of the People’s Liberation Army. State media confirmed the circumstances of his death.
Reportedly Zhang was linked to the former discredited vice-chairmen of the Central Military Commission, Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou, and had “serious disciplinary violations,” as corruption is commonly called.
