Chinese prosecutors in six months returned to the homeland 61 suspected corrupts

Almaty. April 28. Silkroadnews - Chinese prosecutors in six months returned home from 20 different countries, 61 suspected of corruption, reported the newspaper China Daily.
"Countries where the suspects were hiding, include the US, Canada and Italy. In this case, prosecutors confiscated illegal funds in the amount of 629 million yuan ($101.5 million)",- said the publication with reference to the main People's Procuratorate of China.
In this case, 9 of the 61 suspects were detained by border services while trying to cross the border of China. The remaining 47 were returned to the country between September and March, to stand trial. It is noted that the figure of detained suspects is 6 times more than the average per year over the last 10 years.
Most of those detained in the last six months, accused of taking bribes, embezzlement, abuse of power and corruption.
As reported, on April 22 Interpol issued arrest warrants for 100 of wanted Chinese corrupt officials who fled abroad. Most of the wanted accused of embezzlement, corruption, abuse of power and taking bribes.
In order to arrest hiding officials, Ministry of Public Security of China intends to work closely with the People's Bank of China to track suspicious money transfers to foreign accounts, as well as with the relevant authorities for information on passports of civil servants.
