CIS countries plan to build integrated system of satellite communications for military purposes
Almaty. June 20. Silkroadnews – The CIS plan to create an integrated system of military satellite communications, the CIS Executive Committee’s press service reported.
It is reported that on June 21-22 the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk will hold the expert group’s meeting on coordination of draft agreement on the use of satellite communication systems for military use and their further improvement.
The document provides for the use and further development of satellite communication systems for military purposes to be carried out to improve the reliability of the control under the armed forces.
“With this end it is planned to create an integrated system of military satellite communications of CIS member states on the basis of its national segments. To ensure unity of approaches to the creation of such a system, the Defense Ministry of Russia serving as an umbrella organization for the development of requirements to the system’s technical characteristics will assist the CIS ministries of defense in ensuring compatibility characteristics of national segments of satellite communications for military purposes,” the statement published on the website of the Executive Committee of the CIS states.
The research and development works aimed to improve the space and satellite communication systems and their elements for military use, are planned to be implemented in the research organizations and industrial enterprises within the current co-operation scheme, the information explains.
To carry out the single technical policy the parties will promptly inform each other on the planned changes in the organizational and technical structure of the military satellite communications system and take measures on their improvement and development.
It is planned, the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states to be entrusted with coordination of activities on the agreement implementation. As soon as the agreement is approved at the expert level, the draft document shall be submitted to the Council of the CIS Heads of Government, the press service of the executive committee reported.
