Citizens military forces to be created in Kazakhstan
Almaty. May 30. Silkroadnews – The draft law “On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Kazakhstan on defense and military service” provides for the establishment of citizens’ military forces, KazTAG reports.
“The project provides for the reservists to get a status of military servicemen during the special military trainings. Thus, the rights and obligations as stipulated for servicemen by the current legislation shall apply for them as well,” Deputy Minister of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Mukhtarov said at the bill presentation on Monday.
“The scope of duties of akimats of regions, Astana and Almaty cities to include the function of the citizens’ military forces maintenance within the size and structure approved by the Ministry of Defense, with the exception of payment of the monetary allowances to the head of the territorial defense as paid by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” he added.
Thus, 16 brigades of territorial defense will be created in Astana, Almaty and 14 regions.
“We plan to set 16 riffle brigades in every region, with the total number of 63 thousand troops with a notice period of up to 10 days in wartime. In peacetime the state of these brigades will consist of 15-21 soldiers and civilians, reservists,” the deputy minister said when answered the deputies’ questions.
The major-general reminded, on December 25, 2015, the head of the state signed a decree providing for the citizen’s military forces to be created in Kazakhstan and integrated into the overall national defense system. The citizen’s military forces are military units of territorial defense, which are an integral part of the armed forces designed to fulfill the tasks of the administrative-territorial units of the republic.
With this the recruitment for the military units, elements, units of territorial defense will be implemented through the recall for special military trainings to carry out the activities to introduce and ensure a state of emergencies, emergencies and their consequences recoveries.
