Construction of combined-cycle plant at Tolimarjon TPP in Uzbekistan will be completed by October
Almaty. August 14. Silkroadnews - A consortium of South Korean Daewoo and Hyundai in the third quarter will complete the construction of a new combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) at Talimarjan thermal power plant (TPP) in the Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan, informs UzTAG.
Funding for the project worth $1.28 billion is provided by Asian Development Bank loan in the amount of $350 million, Japan International Development Agency (JICA) - $300 million, loan from the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan - $250 million and equity of JSC "Uzbekenergo".
In December 2004, JSC "Uzbekenergo" put into operation the first unit of TPP Tolimarjon with the design capacity of 800 MW. With the introduction of two new CCGT, power generation at thermal power plants will be increased by 2.3 times - up to 10.4 billion kWh. According to JSC "Uzbekenergo", being developed the feasibility study for the construction by 2022 another two CCGT with similar capacity, which will increase the production of electricity at thermal power plants to 20.4 billion kWh per year.
