Construction of international border crossing point infrastructure began on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border

Almaty. July 14. Silkroadnews – The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the “Torugart-road” checkpoint for construction of infrastructure of the international border crossing point on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border on July 12, KyrTAG reports.

“The checkpoint construction is carried out within the framework of military cooperation between the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Defence of the People’s Republic of China under the leadership of the General Staff of Kyrgyzstan’s Armed Forces. The Chinese side has also granted military aid for the construction of the international crossing points “Irkeshtam-road” and “Torugart-road” for a total amount of 42 million yuan,” press-release by Public relations department of Kyrgyzstan’s State Border Service informs.

Within this agreement the “Irkeshtam-road” checkpoint construction was completed in August 2010.

“The improved infrastructure of “Torugart-road” checkpoint shall fully meet the EEU standards and create the most favorable conditions for people and vehicles crossing the Kyrgyz-Chinese border,” the department press-service officials say.
