Construction of road tunnel "Istiqlol" in Tajikistan is planned to resume in June

Almaty. May 21. Silkroadnews - Construction of the road tunnel "Istiqlol" in Tajikistan is planned to resume in June, reports the Tajik news agency (TajikTA).
"Large-scale work on the completion of road tunnel "Istiqlol" that connects the center of the country with the Sogd region, will begin in June of this year", - the agency in the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan.
At the moment performed certain construction works in the tunnel, but a full-scale completion of the object, as noted in the department, will begin next month. It is noted that financial issues for the completion of the object is resolved. Completion of the work is expected in the middle of the fourth quarter in November.
Recall, in 2003, Iran and Tajikistan signed an agreement on construction of the tunnel "Istiqlol" with funding of $39 million. $10 million is granted by the Iranian government funding, $7.8 million - the share of the Tajik government and $21.2 million - a loan of Iran side.
Although the opening ceremony of the tunnel "Istiqlol" took place in 2006, it is still not completed. In April last year the Iranian company "Sobir" resumed work on the completion of the tunnel.
Earlier, the government of Iran and Tajikistan have agreed to carry out an additional funding of $6 million for the completion of the object. The parties pledged to do for $3 million.
