Construction of the second stage of the Chinese-Russian park “Silk Road” to start by year-end

Almaty. October 14. Silkroadnews – Construction of the second stage of the Chinese-Russian innovation park “Silk Road” will begin by the end of this year, Chinese media report.

According to the park administration, as on the end of this September the construction of 270 thousand square meters’ area of the first stage has already been completed. The work to attract the residents is well under way. The statistics says, around 30 Chinese residents have been registered in the park so far.

The second stage of more than 130 thousand square meters’ area is planned to be located quite close to the first one. The works are carried out on the design and business models development at present. The project operators assume the second stage to be started at the end of 2016. The investments into the construction of the park will make 4 billion yuan.

The meeting of the heads of governments of China and Russia held in October 2014 resulted in signing a memorandum on cooperation in realization of the “Silk Road” high tech parks project. According to the memorandum, both countries will create the “Silk Road” innovative parks. Chinese park is planned to be located in the new town Fendong, the Russian one is to be located at the innovation center “Skolkovo”. The construction of the Russian park is expected to begin in 2017.
